This area of Spain is steeped in medieval history and has strong Celtic roots.
Freixo has grown up as a fishing village with a harbour and new marina area. The marina has many bars and restaurants all serving great food made with fresh local ingredients. If you want just a snack then the Spanish tradition of Tapas is perfect washed down with a robust Rioja or a smooth Albarino white wine.
Noia is 12 kilometres away and is thriving market town. There are two outdoor market days - Thursday and Sunday and everyday there is a bustling indoor market selling fresh meat, fresh seafood and vegetables. This is a lively affair but is a guaranteed Spanish experience. In Noia you can always pick up English newspapers from a news kiosk.
Muros is 20 kilometres away and again is a fishing village that has grown up into the hill side. The medieval town has many alleyways and side streets to explore. The town itself is pedestianised and offers a Spanish gastronomique experience both by day and night. Muros also offers a glass bottom boat tour of the Ria and you can explore the other side of the bay and visit the village of Portsin.
